The 'Ringle' is (to be) born

The ringle (single song, remix or old version + a ringtone released on a CD) is going to be launched, most probably in December.
The idea, by SonyMusic and UniversalMusic, is approved by the RIAA.

You know how i feel about this.

(Something went wrong with the first post, so here we go again)

They think this is a good idea?
I don't get it.. Isn't this just another case that shows that majors don't really know how to catch up with the revolution? The concept of single on cd is played out as it is. The only people who are interested in those are; radio dj-s (but they get them for free) club dj-s, people who buy them on vinyl.

It's a dying breed; the single on a plastic disc.
Now they want to fresh it up put some salsa and cheese sauce on it and sell it as a ringle?

Now you have to buy the cd, connect your phone to your pc (not all new phones have the option in the standard package), then transfer the ringtone that is on the cd, put that cd in the pc. Transfer the ringtone from the cd to the pc and on to your phone.
Instead of just directly downloading it to your phone... neat!

Most of the people who buy ringtones are teenagers and they are internet savvy enough to download them via the internet or text messaging.

any thoughts?
